I recently bought an Instant Pot which is a pressure cooker/combo-cooker. It is a wonderfully useful tool to have in my AIP kitchen. I have used it every day since I opened it! I love how quick and easy it made making this nightshade free, paleo autoimmune protocol compliant BBQ sauce.
I wanted a BBQ Sauce that I could make with just normal ingredients I usually keep on hand. Like carrots, onions and apples. I am so pleased with now it turned out! Rich, thick, tangy, smoky, sweet, with a hint of heat from the ginger. Just how a BBQ sauce should be! Try using this on your favourite meat or as a dipping sauce. At least a week in the fridge. Months in the freezer. I like to freeze in small portions and take out as needed.

This is a wonderful recipe! Thank you so much for creating it. Don't let the ingredients scare you, it does taste like BBQ sauce. Amazing!! I actually flash froze about 1/4 cup amounts into silicone baking cups. Then popped those into freezer bags. Easy amounts to thaw out for a recipe. Thanks again for the recipe.

Why the tablespoon of sweet potato? Can that be omitted?

This just came out of the instant pot. This is my first condiment and it tastes great. It has just the right amount of kick. I used mace instead of cloves and omitted the pepper and mustard powder. Thanks for the great recipe.
